Performance Requirements





CRNA Anesthesia providers must be credentialed and privileged in accordance with VA policies and procedures to include submission into VetPro, VHA’s credentialing internet software.


License must be unrestricted and in a US state, territory or US commonwealth and be currently active.


a) As part of the services provided, the Contractor CRNA will be at the VA and will provide full surgery and follow-up services within the OR. The VA shall ensure that all necessary supplies, space and personnel to assist are available during the times that the Contractor CRNA is on site.


b) Contract CRNA, or designee, shall be required to enter all required notes electronically into CPRS (Computerized Patient Record System). The contractor must meet all computer security requirements of the VAPSHCS.


c) Clinical or other medical records and any other patient care documentation of VA beneficiaries treated by the Contractor shall be completed at the time the services are rendered and the entries are signed off before leaving the facility.


d) Successful candidates must have completed all education requirements for a certified registered nurse anesthetist. They must maintain a current unrestricted license and have a certificate as a CRNA.


e) The CRNA must have a minimum of five years’ experience in the administration of anesthesia in a hospital setting


f) Be a US citizen


g) Provide a certificate of current professional liability insurance


h) Provide evidence of current privileges (if applicable)


i) Provide names of most current employer(s) and two peer reference contacts


j) Provide current copy of ACLS/BCLS certification


k) Be a team player


l) Must be computer literate, as the VA utilizes a computerized patient medical record system which requires direct data entry by the provider. Also should have keyboarding skill (25 wpm or greater), basic computer navigation skills, and the ability to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
