Nurses are in demand, no matter your specialty. We’re placing nurses across the country in different specialties and geographies. If you’re adventurous and seeking new ways to use your skills and experience in nursing, we’d love to talk to you about becoming an AB Staffing travel nurse.
In-Demand Travel Nurse Specialties
We’ve updated the Top Travel Nurse Specialties for the new year. The list is based on our experience in placing nurses, open positions, and trends in nursing. The two newest specialties we’ve added are Psychiatric Nursing and Corrections Nurses which are in greater demand due to the post-pandemic impacts of managing mental health, stress, and work-related burnout.
Corrections Nurse
As a Corrections nurse, you are uniquely qualified to work in juvenile and adult correctional facilities. You may be the first medical worker the inmate has seen in a long time, maybe years. What you treat will vary widely from flesh wounds to infected wounds due to lack of care and/or homelessness prior to incarceration. You may see patients in need of specialists and you will see patients in need of mental health care too. With corrections or psychiatric experience, you have the skills needed to provide care to this population.

It’s a perfect opportunity to gain experience and learn how to care for these patients. It also gives you a chance to gain knowledge of other specialties should you decide to look for advancement or a change later in your career.

As an ICU nurse, you are responsible for the acute care of the sickest of patients. While you see fewer patients, the work is challenging as you need the emotional and physical endurance to manage the fast-changing condition of patients in your care.
